Head Competition Rules
All entries must be received by 2pm Saturday 8th November 2025
A $30 entry fee must be paid per head entered
Only heads harvested between the last Sika Show - 4th November 2024 and the Sika Show on 8th November 2025 can be entered
All heads must be left on display for the 2 days of the Sika Show being the 8th & 9th November 2025 (unless prior arrangement is made with Sika Show management)
It is requested that a photo of your trophy at the time it was taken (preferably with you in it also) is emailed to info@sikashow.co.nz at the time of entry with your name in the subject line so we can display the photo during Prize Giving on the big screen above the stage for all winners as they come up to collect their prize.
The Judges decision for winning heads and disqualifications will be final and no correspondence will be entered into
All heads entered must be bare skull entries, NO mounted heads will be accepted for entry
You or your proxy must be present at Prize giving 3pm Sunday 9th November 2025 for any drawn prizes
A hole will be drilled into all head entries for ID purposes and future competition safeguarding
All Sika Stag entries must be 6 points or more unless entered in the "most unusual head category"
All entries for public land categories must be from genuine public land and have an accompanying DOC permit that is dated for the period in which the animal was harvested
All other entries must be free range unless they are taken on a "Game Estate" and then they must be entered as so.
Junior entrants must be 14 years or younger at the date of the Sika Show 2025
Heads must be clean, free of any flesh or offensive smell, entries that don't meet this requirement will not be accepted
Bow entries MUST have genuinely been taken by bow and arrow
Choice for "Best Sika Head in Show" is at the Judges discretion and no correspondence will be entered into
DNA samples may be taken for ID purposes
There is no entry fee for Sika hind jaws entered
If requested, proof of where and when the animal was taken must be provided
Velvet heads can be entered as long as they are fully developed and hard in their entirety
If a head in velvet scores the same as a head in hard antler the hard antler head will place ahead of it
Anyone with a current trespass notice against them will not be eligible to enter
Head competition entrants will receive free entry on Sunday 9th November 2025 to collect their heads and attend prize giving, unless their head was registered on Saturday 8th November by someone other than themselves in which case they must pay the door entry ticket price of $25 to get into the show and pick up their head tag to collect their entry after the show prize giving.
Online entries close 5pm on 2nd November 2025, all entries after this time must be registered at the Sika Show on Saturday 8th November between 9am & 2pm.
Every head entered will get 1x entry to go in the draw to win the Swarovski range finding binoculars valued at over $ 5850.
